I really appreciated this post and completely agree with your perspective on survival shows. Funnily enough, I was watching an episode of Alone today, and I noticed it stands out a bit compared to others like Naked and Afraid. Alone occasionally includes text overlays with random facts—like how fireweed is the first plant to grow after a forest fire—and I found that really interesting. It felt like I was not just watching for entertainment, but also learning something along the way.

On the other hand, shows like Naked and Afraid often focus purely on the drama and survival tension, but rarely teach the viewer anything practical or informative. I’d love to see more survival content that combines both entertainment and education—there’s so much potential for that.

I also deeply resonated with what you said about “what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.” Some of my friends have called me resilient, and I think that comes from having gone through a lot—war, illness, and other tough chapters in life. But here I am today, stronger and more grounded than ever. It’s true that facing discomfort and challenge can shape us powerfully. Cold showers came to mind while reading your post—another small but meaningful way we can build resilience by stepping out of comfort.

Thanks again for all the valuable insights you shared in this newsletter. I’m a new reader and really glad I came across your work—I’m looking forward to diving into the rest of your posts!
